5/15: 19 Days And What I've Gathered

I’m attempting to make use of this network as well. Since it has evaded every attempt to be deleted from my phone AND has somehow migrated to my computer, it seems time to shift my goals. I’m trying to determine what the purpose of this network and app is, through reviewing the TOS. Or at least what I can remember from it.

My apologies in the delay in posting this; I wanted to review my notes and my own memory, to make sure everything lined up correctly. But so far, this is what I’ve recorded. (And I will try to keep my own opinions on this TOS to a minimum, so as not to interfere with the fact checking. It wouldn’t be professional, otherwise.)

”Then too bad. You’ve already agreed to them by reading this far.” Referring to the terms of service and agreements.

”Not responsible for death.” Paraphrased, but that was under the terms and conditions as well.

Something about goats.

”Little regard for conflict of law provisions.” Paraphrased, along with a question on why anyone was still reading this, under the “Governing Law” section.

0 days Prior Notice to changes. And another phrasing of already being committed to this.

No contact information under the “Contact Us” setting.

No option to decline from the terms.

”21 days remain before awakening.” (Note that as of now, it should be 19 days.)

That is everything I’ve managed to recall and record. Though if anyone remembers anything else, I would appreciate hearing about it.

From my conversations with others, the most worrying thing remains the count down. It seems something is imminent, though what I’m not sure. I formerly thought this was a prank of some sort, or perhaps some odd form of student project. But given the tenacity of the program, I'm beginning to have my doubts.

In a way, I hope this all just a flare of melodrama in my own head… but I also prefer not to leave anything to chance. I wish to make an attempt at being prepared for whatever may come. And part of that preparation is gathering and sharing as much information as possible.

[ But it makes him wonder. Not that it's not impossible there isn't someone else out there who has both parents with that occupation. ]

I do have a cat. I think she purrs the most of any cat ever. [she is a good cat.]

[ Well, if nothing else, he feels like he's definitely speaking to a kid. But he feels reasonably sure it's Akira who he's talking to. Maybe his assumptions will come back to bite him in the ass, but—had the app gotten onto Akira's cellphone too? Another headache to deal with, and the last thing he needs is another one of those. ]

Funny, I think we may have the same cat.

[it doesn't quite dawn on him that Ren might also have this app. It's a little hard to remember that the people on here are still 'people' when he can't see them.]

[ There's a moment when he wonders if he should tell Akira to get off the app and never touch it again—almost everyone here is statistically likely to be older than him—but he doesn't know if that's realistic. Or even if it's something he should do. He knows he's not going to mention the app to his parents—it makes him sick just thinking about doing so, for some reason—but at least he can keep an eye on things from here. Keep him out of trouble. ]

I won't stop you from using it. Just be careful about who you talk to.
